Research and consultancy

We undertake a variety of research and consultancy commissions for a range of clients, deploying the most effective methods to suit each commission.

We adhere to professional standards in research and have Prince 2 qualified associates with whom we share working practices..

We absolutely recognise that out client takes ultimate responsibility for decisions about training strategies but we always work in close collaboration with key stake-holders to ensure that as far as possible, our proposals meet the wider range of client needs.

It is all too easy to solve one problem but create others.

By taking on a diversity of work we maintain a real-world appreciation of how situations and issues relate to one another.

Management of Training

We undertook a comprehensive review of key and basic skills delivery for a major national training provider in the UK. The research included site-visits, interviews and questionnaires. It resulted in a comprehensive report of current practice in the organisation and a series of recommendations for managers and directors.

The report was followed up by a briefing and workshop sessions as part of the client’s manager conference.

Annual staff review

In association with Synergis we undertook a series of lesson observations and one-to-one review meetings with all teaching staff in a London college, chair their annual review meeting and produce a detailed report.

Diversity of work

We have delivered various government department projects e.g.:

  • under contract to QCA we researched and developed a component of apprenticeships on Citizenship in an Employment Context
  • advising employers on implementation of key skills for modern apprentices in child care and engineering for KSSP – funded by DfES and the European Social Fund.
  • Research into the viability of local NVQ assessor and verifier networks (for QCA).
  • Research and writing national guidance document on Signposting Key Skills in National Occupational Standards (for QCA/PSAG).
  • Research into the operational practices of different (qualifications) awarding bodies for the Key Skills Support Programme.
  • Functional analysis and development/revision of national occupational standards in the UK.
  • In addition we provide consultancy for schools, colleges and training providers in areas including design of learning programmes, management of learning and staff review and development.
  • We worked, as sub-contractors to our colleagues at Synergis, on the evaluation of a leading urban regeneration project in London combining field and desk research with focus groups.
